It’s more than convenient it’s safe

A person using a mobile phone while driving is four times more likely to have a serious car crash.

It’s common to see drivers at traffic lights with their heads down, tapping away on their phones, trying to avoid being ‘caught’. Sometimes the legality behind simply replying to a text message at a red light seems harmless but it’s a distraction nonetheless.

Using your phone on your lap or by any other physical means is illegal in every state in Australia. That’s because mobile devices pull a drivers attention away from the road and that is dangerous. Plus three demerit points and a $330 fine aren’t worth any text messages or phone calls while behind the wheel. It only takes a split second to lose your concentration and what many people don’t realize is that distracted drivers are actually really dangerous. Did you know one in every ten deaths on Queensland roads were the result of drivers being distracted.

A recent QUT survey of nearly 800 Queensland drivers found that 77% reported using their mobile phone for any purpose while driving. Overall, 25% of drivers reported using their hand-held mobile phone to answer calls on a daily basis, 20% of drivers reported doing so to make a call, 27% to read a text message and 14% to send a text message.

The legal and safe way to use your mobile is through a hands free process so your fingertips and eyeballs are focused on the road and your mouth is free to chatter away. It’s more than convenient it’s safe. Better safe than sorry.

Stick to the safe and legal way.

The severity of distractions while driving is continually ignored when we get behind the wheel. We are becoming so confortable with the idea of technology that we tend to forget about the need for safety all around us. Securing your car with a hands free kit is safe, stylish and costs the same price as a fine itself. Chris from Cartronics 2U has done two jobs for us and we are very happy. First he installed a Polaris GPS with camera pointed at the towball in our Land Rover Defender 4WD. Later we got him to add a second camera mounted high at the back. He also noticed our Polaris was loose on its mountings after an Outback trip over corrugated roads and added extra mounting screws. Both times he was friendly, helpful and professional and did excellent work for reasonable charges. We would certainly use his services again.
